Re: Can't save on iTunes |
That shouldn't be a problem, as you should be able to upload any CD or file to iTunes; it's the stuff people buy (or rather, rent!) from iTunes which has DRM attached. A more likely issue would be the file format - iTunes can't import from (for example) FLAC files, so you'd have to convert them first, using (for example) Trader's Little Helper.
A handy tip for removing DRM from downloaded files is to burn them to a CD and then re-upload them; from a technical perpective I understand that there is a very slight quality loss, but as they're only mp3s for a portable player, that's hardly serious!

Re: Can't save on iTunes |
HI, it's very kind of you to reply, but the reality is, when I drag the files to itunes, iTunes ignores them. I took the computer in to the Apple store, and the Genius Bar person had no idea why I can't save to itunes except that she thinks the files must be DRM.
I've tried downloading the GD files in 64Kbs MP3ZIP, VBRZIP, and Losslesszip. I can get them to my desktop, but when I take them to itunes, Itunes ignores them.
gd1977-05-08.shure57.stevenson.29303.flac16_64kb_mp3--for example, this is listed under "type" as Itunes musicplayer, but I can't find it anywhere in itunes, in recently added, or anywhere.
Any ideas?
